Orchard Hotel Singapore

Amidst the pandemic, ending a year without a vacation still kinda leaves a void. This season, Joanne and I booked a one-night staycation at Orchard Hotel Singapore, again, in conjunction with Joanne's MOE special staycation promotion. We also added the High Tea Set for Two to our booking at $40 (which I don't recommend). In total we paid $226.59 for a one night stay with the high tea set.

We entered Orchard Hotel Singapore via Claymore Connect in the morning (although the check-in time was 2pm). The lobby wasn't crowded, thankfully, as we arrived earlier hoping for an early check-in, in which the staff eventually could get us a room without a bathtub (smaller toilet but larger room) available for early check-in. We gladly accepted that offer.

Our Room

The view from our room wasn't fantastic. Facing the east, we got a subtle glimpse of ION Orchard from afar.

Swimming Pool

We booked the swimming pool slot by scanning the QR code on a piece of paper we received upon check-in, with some instructions on it. That's our first activity and thank God we got to swim before it started to rain half an hour later.

High Tea (top up $40)

Hotel guests have their high tea and breakfast at the Orchard Cafe.

The atmosphere and environment were decent, but I'm pretty disappointed with the amount (the type too, maybe?) of food served for high tea (perhaps I overestimated that).

We thickened our skin to request for additional portion but to no avail, were rejected.

Some of the staffs didn't seem to know the stuffs well and had to constantly check with their supervisor.

Will you pay $40 just for this high tea set?

We had our dinner at Menbaka Fire Ramen at Cineleisure Orchard. It was a slightly long walk in the drizzle as Orchard Hotel is located on the outskirts of Orchard.

Good night!

Breakfast

The Orchard Cafe was more crowded during breakfast. Their buffet-style breakfast comes with a wide variety of food options, from American breakfast to dim sum. Joanne's favorite were the croissants.

I really wished my belly had more space to try out every single cuisine.

Gym

While Joanne went back to sleep, I visited the gym located right beside the swimming pool. Size of the gym - very small, other than cardio equipment, there were only three machines with weights. I spent less than 20 minutes there, using only the shoulder press machine.

Overall, the experience was average.
Pros: Wide variety of options for breakfast, decent room.
Cons: High tea set wasn't worth it, gym was poorly equipped, jacuzzi at the swimming pool wasn't operating, hotel location is relatively out of the way.

It's inferior as compared to our experience at Mandarin Orchard Singapore.
