KOI Café

Hazelnut Milk Tea 榛果奶茶 ($2.90)
@ 201 Victoria Street
People pronounce it as KOI ('coil' without the 'l' sound), but I prefer pronouncing it as KOI ('coi'ncident or コイ).

As one of the most best selling bubble tea store in Singapore, KOI Café successfully attracts its customers with the irresistible fragrance of their bubble tea with customer's own choice of sugar level.
This is revealed from the willingness of customers spending their time lining up a long queue just for a cup of bubble tea.

Every single sip of the milk tea just keeps you revived~~ like caffeine...
The pearls are smaller than usual but are given in a bigger portion so that it's easier to sip and each time you can munch more pearls.

A couple of months ago I was told by one of my friends about the origin of the word "KOI" - it's a 90˚ clockwise rotation of the Chinese character "豆", which means "bean". My goodness, how true it is, and how come I never thought of that?! Haha... though I'm still wondering whether that's the actual origin of "KOI".

茶十二叡曲 @ Clementi

茶十二叡曲, a Taiwan originated bubble tea store has had one of its franchise launched in Clementi, Singapore, which is considerably near to NUS.

At first I thought it was a Japanese shop because of the phrase メロディーのお茶.

I don't really know why was it opened at Clementi Central as there're already two Taiwanese bubble stalls there (KOI Café and OK Tea). They really wanna have a fight? Haha...

As compared to KOI Café and OK Tea, a typical hazelnut or caramel bubble tea that I used to order costs $4.10 instead of $2.90 at 茶十二叡曲 because there's only large-sized one in the Milk Tea section.

Besides, 茶十二叡曲's stall is slightly smaller than KOI, but the assistant either is a Taiwanese or speaks like Taiwanese, plus a pretty cashier they have. :)

Caramel Milk Tea 焦糖奶茶 ($4.10)

Taiwan milk tea from different outlets tastes the same and delicious to me. The relatively strong fragrance of the milk could be one of the reasons people keep coming back to queue for a drink.

Teochew Fish Porridge @ Clementi 448 Market & Food Centre

There is always this stall with the longest queue at Clementi 448 Market & Food Centre - Teochew Fish Porridge 潮洲魚粥.

They serve predominantly soup and porridge by cooking mainly fish.

For my 1st time, I was asked by my friend to queue for it because she always noticed the long queue but have never ordered.

So this was my 2nd time there for the porridge.

Sliced Fish Porridge 魚片粥 ($3)

The porridge was pretty soupy and tasty. That makes people willing to queue for so long just because of it.
You might perspire after eating this hot bowl of porridge because no air conditioning at hawker centres.

Delicious @ Straits Quay

Opened in May 2011, Delicious is a café located at one corner of the Strait Quay's dock in Penang.

By the way, it's Joling's 22nd birthday and together with her three buddies, we had a very late dinner over there.

I can say that it's a costly place to dine in for ordinary people.

Five of us waited for quite a moment as it was like fully seated - a good reason to start camwhoring...

After we're seated, we checked out the menu and wow, it's amazing to find that there's no pictures of food in a restaurant menu.

The Manhattan Fish Market

I finally escaped from Vacation Internship Programme and got back to Penang. It's another hang out with Joling at Queensbay Mall that resembled all the sweet memories.

She suggested The Manhattan Fish Market for dinner because of this promotional deal. RM10 nett per set for students. Cheap 到瘋 sia!

Everytime when student card is to be shown, I got this scenario went through my mind:
"Eh, tunggu kejap! Ini sekolah mana, ha? NUS... tak pernah dengar pun!" ^^

Seafood 101

All-star Fish 'n Chips

Tiramisu

In conclusion, it's worth the money (RM10 per set in Manhattan in this era) and students do have lots of privileges. Yeah!
