Christina Perri - A Thousand Years (Cover by Gary Song)

I've previously recorded an erhu & keyboard cover of the song A Thousand Years by Christina Perri. This time we're recording a vocal cover, featuring Gary on the vocal and Justin on the violin.

This cover was difficult to record as it involves 3 persons. And none of us knows how to properly mic up a violin. Also, I know it's so weird that the vocalist is on the left and I'm at the center, well it's also troublesome to shift the instruments around and fitting 3 persons in the frame in a small band room is cumbersome as well. Moreover, Justin sometimes play wrongly as he hasn't completely internalized the song yet. We even changed from sitting to standing position, and I actually felt uneasy when I play keyboard while standing. Furthermore, Justin kept grumbling that his violin skill has gotten rusty and thus the tonality of the violin wasn't so delicate.

And due to deficiency of mic, I had to post record my harmonizing part. But I didn't really cheat because I really did harmonize while playing the keyboard as that gives a more natural synchronicity.

Oh well, I've tried my best in editing, hope everything is at the acceptable standard, including the tone and EQ of violin which I intend to make it more blended.

Well, it's a really really nice song, as I previously mentioned I fell in love with this after someone sang it in the band room during jamming.

If you find the how we arranged ourselves in the video awkward, please enjoy the music instead. Haha...
